Chili Cook-off Chow Chow Luncheon – An Annual Tradition with a Twist

They began as a simple office luncheon in 1988, but “Chow Chows” have grown and evolved into an annual fundraising tradition in Howard Hanna offices across our 11-state footprint. As the fundraising source for the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund, hundreds of events take place in our markets each year, and they have become quite creative through the decades – tailgates, golf tournaments, and parties galore!

This year, our Pittsburgh Corporate Chow Chow will be a tribute to the founder of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. We will be hosting the First Annual Howard W. Hanna Jr. Memorial Chili Cook-off on Friday, December 17, from 12 – 3 p.m. on the 5th floor of the Hanna Financial Building, located at 1000 Gamma Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Guests will enjoy a live band, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, some raffle baskets, the big $25K Raffle drawing, and lots of food, fun, and festivities…plus a visit from Santa!

Among his many talents, Mr. Hanna was a proud champion chili cook, and in addition to an incredible legacy of giving, he left behind his prize-winning chili recipes for all to enjoy and share. We will honor Mr. Hanna with a celebration of his life and hold a fun chili competition to raise money for free care programs that support our regional children in need of essential medical care and services.

The Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund has donated more than $18 million to the care of children in our regional market areas with our Children’s Free Care Fundraisers! Though our ways of fundraising may have changed since they began, our goal is the same: to help our community’s children in need, regardless of their family’s current financial situation.
