Howard Hanna Mortgage Services Partners with Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity

A rainy, muddy day in Cleveland provides the perfect opportunity to stay under shelter and build a home from the inside out. Recently, a few employees from Howard Hanna Mortgage Services (HHMS) did just that when they volunteered for a Habitat for Humanity build day as part of the $10,000 partnership between the two organizations.

A home means so many things to the people that live there – a place a refuge, safety, security, and love. HHMS and our employees are proud to be a part of providing those needs to a family in the Cleveland area and are humbled to share their experience with our readers.

Joe Lindau, Vice President of HHMS, was pleased to be able to participate. He and three other team members, Doug Mainzer, Ethan Tomins, and Michael Huba spent the day building walls for the home’s future basement bedrooms. The team quickly fell into a routine of measuring, cutting, leveling, and nailing – working alongside each other to get the job done.

“It felt really good to help build someone’s dream for a day, said Lindau. “I only wish we could have kept working on the project for an entire week.”

Mainzer, a regional finance manager for HHMS, also shared his experience. Growing up as a carpenter’s son, he shared that it felt great to be able to give back in a way that he can personally connect with.

“We rolled up our sleeves and got right to it,” Mainzer said. “The day was a great way to live out our tag ‘Home Happens Here’ – it was truly a day of taking action and building a home from the ground up.”

As a family company, we can understand and appreciate the benefits of having a family together under one roof and through the HHMS sponsorship of Habitat for Humanity, these employees had the opportunity to spend time together as a work family, providing a home for a future family to live out their dream.
